BleachBit Released 4.9.2 as The Last Dev Version for Next 5.0.0

BleachBit, the popular free open-source system cleaner application, released new 4.9.2 development version few days ago.

After 2 alpha releases, BleachBit 4.9.2 is marked as Beta and final release before the next major 5.0.0.

Compare to the last v4.9.1, the new release does not include any new features. It only updated the translations, improved the build process, and X11 vs Wayland detection on Linux. And, it added metadata such as version number and company to the Windows executable files.

Compare to current v4.6.2 stable, the new release added ability to clear more files and caches for more applications, including

  • Chromium (Snap version),
  • Discord,
  • Librewolf,
  • Geary email client,
  • temporary files in Bash,
  • non-beta Microsoft Edge,
  • rotated logs.

There are as well new keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Q, Ctrl+W) to close the application, an application indicator icon for Linux, major Python and GTK framework updates for Windows, and stability improvements and code cleanup. For more, see the official release note.
